My Website

I thought this assessment task of making a website for our movie was going to be hard as I didn't know what you could possibly put in a website for my kind of film. However, now that I have completed it and look back on it, I am fairly happy with it. I had included pages such, the Welcome, Synopsis, Trailer, Reviews, Poster and Photos, in the program iWeb for the task. I found iWeb really simple to use, even though I did have to ask Mr Powell how to do some things. I was surprised that when you had published the file you could open it almost like a website.

My time management for this task, in my opinion, I was both quite surprised and happy. At the start I had no idea I would achieve the timeline with some of the work I had done but as I have learnt, iWeb is simple to use and making pages etc is too.

I am happy with the final product of this task (the website) as it shows bright and happy colours, shows good reviews (so that people will watch it) and had put some other things in there to make it a fairly good webiste for my film, Kate's Day...

Along with iWeb I also had to use some other programs such as, Photoshop for the poster and iMovie to put in the movie, which all had been programs learnt this year from Creative Media. I am glad I got to do my movie in Photoshop because I had sort of forgotten what to do, but it has briefly come back to me while using it to make the poster, which is good.

Finished!

I have completed my website! And was the first to submit it (early) to Mr Powell- brownie points for me!

I am happy with website and am glad to get it in early. A post with a full reflection will be posted soon.

At the moment...

In Creative Media so far I have done my Welcome/Home page, and am working on the Trailer and Synopsis page. For this page I have had to make a trailer for my movie, by cutting pieces out of it. I am now thinking of maybe doing a voice over for it... but I'm not quite sure if I should or not, because there isn't really too much to say.

Next lesson I will put my trailer onto the page and add the synopsis. As for this lesson, I'm going to work out what I want on my poster and maybe start it using Photoshop or another program.

Term 4 Assessment

Mr Powell has been filling us in on what we need for our website (which is our new task assessment this term).

These are the things we need to include on the website, using the '3 click' rule.

Miwa Matreyek's clips

I have been working on the Written Task for the past week or so, and have noticed that Miwa Matreyek's clips are quite creative, and unique. You can tell she is a fairly experienced and talented Multimedia Artist... She gives a different outlook on things, and has a wide imagination!

For the assessment I have chosen to analyse her clip called Factory. Analysis Task is below.

Movie complete..

I have now finished my movie, with the Garage Band on it also. As an additional task we need to do, I have been working on the Written Assessment task in where we have to analyse one of Miwa Matreyek (Multimedia Artist)'s videos.

I am fairly happy with my movie, 'Kate's Day' and how I have been working the past two terms with it. In Garage Band I added music for the writing in the book scenes and then another piece of music for the animation part of the Kate, Mr Steven, Amanda and the ball etc. I have then also added a couple sound effects of a ball bouncing, and then little girls laughing (when Amanda and Kate are playing together).

I think that if I had even just one or two more weeks I would be able to perfect it even more and make it better (by making it not seem so 'rough') and as a result be more happy with it.

Animation Analysis Task

Notes on the works of Miwa Matreyek, Multimedia Artist:

Digitopia
· Use of body parts – moving
· Layering used
· Both still pictures and moving images used
· Music relating to movie
· Sound cues (from lyrics of music) used
· Many programs used; Photoshop, Animation. iStop Motion (or similar)

Circus
· Only sound at start (nothing on screen)
· Images are only outlined in black on white screen at start
· Shows pictures (outlined) of circus animals; lions, monkeys, elephants
· Use of text on screen
· Layering used
· Forming and merging of people and animals together

Factory
· Sounds of factory/machines noise
· Layering used
· Both still pictures and moving images used
· Out of proportioned sizing (e.g spanner and man, man and blender)
· Man using spanner to start and work the blender
· Quite an interesting movie
· About man working factory, not machines? Or man working machines in factory?

CHOSEN VIDEO TO ANALYSE: ‘FACTORY’ http://vimeo.com/5905934

Focus Questions:

1. Indentify the imagery by listing what you see (e.g objects, shape etc.)
· People
· Objects; spanners, blenders, computer/keyboard, boxes, machines
· Quite defined shapes and objects
· Real shapes and real objects

2. What is your overall impression of the mood of the work? The mood of the work, in my opinion is unique in the way that it is very repetitive, and feels quite ‘controlled’.

3. Watch and listen for visual cues, sound cues and editing
At the start, it had a black screen, but with sounds of factory/machine work in the background. It is a sound cue for the clip to start and open with a factory scene.

Analysis:

1. Notice the visual language used by Matreyek (e.g colour, line, quality of movement, shapes, use of scale etc.)
The whole movie was done in a rough, black and white effect. The lines were dark and defined, with the movement of shapes quite rough in some areas; for example, when the hand at the top was moving and went down, at the start. The use of scale is fairly out of proportioned for examples, the spanner and man, and blender and man. Throughout the movie, everything is fairly repetitive also.

2. Notice the sounds, list these identifying their type and quality
The sounds throughout the clip are one of factory and machine noises, along with in one part computer dial-up. It is very busy, with many different of these noises at once. It really gives the essence and mood of a factory by just using the sounds.

Interpretation:

1. What is your interpretation of the work?

I think that the movie is about manual labour in a factory and repetition in our day- to -day work lives.

2. Survey friends and family- what do they think the work is about?

Family members who have seen the movie agree with my interpretation that our lives have become quite controlled and the movie shows this repetition, as well as the manual labour to work machines rather than machines to do it themselves etc.

3. Who do you think is the intended audience for Matreyek’s work?

I think that the intended audience is society as a whole. I think from my interpretation of the fact that society, and workers doing manual labour and the repetitive days all seem to fit into the fact that it is aimed to the people of the community and society in who can relate or understand to this meaning.

4. How does visual language inform your interpretation?

The visual language of movement in particular, and the repetition of the doings are main factors of my interpretation. This was due to the fact that those large main factors were the base of what I thought the clip was about and the meaning behind it all.

5. How has Matreyek used sound with the animation images to create meaning?

The sound throughout the clip is ultimately factory and machine noises, which most sound effects are often repeated when the animation repeats also. Both these factors help create the meaning of manual labour and repetition in the workplace.
