My Website
My time management for this task, in my opinion, I was both quite surprised and happy. At the start I had no idea I would achieve the timeline with some of the work I had done but as I have learnt, iWeb is simple to use and making pages etc is too.
I am happy with the final product of this task (the website) as it shows bright and happy colours, shows good reviews (so that people will watch it) and had put some other things in there to make it a fairly good webiste for my film, Kate's Day...
Along with iWeb I also had to use some other programs such as, Photoshop for the poster and iMovie to put in the movie, which all had been programs learnt this year from Creative Media. I am glad I got to do my movie in Photoshop because I had sort of forgotten what to do, but it has briefly come back to me while using it to make the poster, which is good.

Miwa Matreyek's clips
For the assessment I have chosen to analyse her clip called Factory. Analysis Task is below.
Movie complete..
I am fairly happy with my movie, 'Kate's Day' and how I have been working the past two terms with it. In Garage Band I added music for the writing in the book scenes and then another piece of music for the animation part of the Kate, Mr Steven, Amanda and the ball etc. I have then also added a couple sound effects of a ball bouncing, and then little girls laughing (when Amanda and Kate are playing together).
I think that if I had even just one or two more weeks I would be able to perfect it even more and make it better (by making it not seem so 'rough') and as a result be more happy with it.

Animation Analysis Task
· Use of body parts – moving
· Layering used
· Both still pictures and moving images used
· Music relating to movie
· Sound cues (from lyrics of music) used
· Many programs used; Photoshop, Animation. iStop Motion (or similar)
· Only sound at start (nothing on screen)
· Images are only outlined in black on white screen at start
· Shows pictures (outlined) of circus animals; lions, monkeys, elephants
· Use of text on screen
· Layering used
· Forming and merging of people and animals together
· Sounds of factory/machines noise
· Layering used
· Both still pictures and moving images used
· Out of proportioned sizing (e.g spanner and man, man and blender)
· Man using spanner to start and work the blender
· Quite an interesting movie
· About man working factory, not machines? Or man working machines in factory?
· People
· Objects; spanners, blenders, computer/keyboard, boxes, machines
· Quite defined shapes and objects
· Real shapes and real objects
2. What is your overall impression of the mood of the work? The mood of the work, in my opinion is unique in the way that it is very repetitive, and feels quite ‘controlled’.
3. Watch and listen for visual cues, sound cues and editing
At the start, it had a black screen, but with sounds of factory/machine work in the background. It is a sound cue for the clip to start and open with a factory scene.
1. Notice the visual language used by Matreyek (e.g colour, line, quality of movement, shapes, use of scale etc.)
The whole movie was done in a rough, black and white effect. The lines were dark and defined, with the movement of shapes quite rough in some areas; for example, when the hand at the top was moving and went down, at the start. The use of scale is fairly out of proportioned for examples, the spanner and man, and blender and man. Throughout the movie, everything is fairly repetitive also.
2. Notice the sounds, list these identifying their type and quality
The sounds throughout the clip are one of factory and machine noises, along with in one part computer dial-up. It is very busy, with many different of these noises at once. It really gives the essence and mood of a factory by just using the sounds.
Interpretation:
1. What is your interpretation of the work?
I think that the movie is about manual labour in a factory and repetition in our day- to -day work lives.
2. Survey friends and family- what do they think the work is about?
Family members who have seen the movie agree with my interpretation that our lives have become quite controlled and the movie shows this repetition, as well as the manual labour to work machines rather than machines to do it themselves etc.
3. Who do you think is the intended audience for Matreyek’s work?
I think that the intended audience is society as a whole. I think from my interpretation of the fact that society, and workers doing manual labour and the repetitive days all seem to fit into the fact that it is aimed to the people of the community and society in who can relate or understand to this meaning.
4. How does visual language inform your interpretation?
The visual language of movement in particular, and the repetition of the doings are main factors of my interpretation. This was due to the fact that those large main factors were the base of what I thought the clip was about and the meaning behind it all.
5. How has Matreyek used sound with the animation images to create meaning?
The sound throughout the clip is ultimately factory and machine noises, which most sound effects are often repeated when the animation repeats also. Both these factors help create the meaning of manual labour and repetition in the workplace.

Scene Two (trial)

Scene One
After trialling different ways and talking to Mr Powell (a lot) I have found a way of doing my movie so as Mr Powell says, "gives it complexity..". I have decided to cut out each letter and make them come from bunched up to then slide out into the sentences of One Sunny Day. I am really happy with it and makes it a lot more interesting- even if it does require a little bit more patience and time!

Scene One started...
Today I was starting to work on scene one of my movie. However I need to re-do it because my hand is in it at the start. I will have to get some more A3 paper and bring it in next lesson to continue. :)

iStop Motion Practice
This is another practice movie I did on the iStop Motion with my pencil case. I am really enjoying doing these practices so I am pretty sure now that I will do iStop Motion for my assignment :)
Mr Powell told us today that we have a max. of 2 weeks to start and finish our storyboards that we need for our movies. I will have to think of a story and work on it for a bit.

iStop Motion Pracice
This is a short movie that I did on iStop Motion for a practice. I did it by taking several frames as I drew on the paper bit by bit. I think that I will do a large iStop Motion video over two terms. I quite like this program :)

Animation-ish Practices
This is another small movie I have made on Animation-ish. I am yet to put it into Garage Band so that I can put audio on it also.
We are yet to practice iStopMotion but I think for my assignment I will do a large iStopMotion movie with maybe some features of Animation-ish in it. I like playing around with Animation-ish but I am not that good at doing those types of things.

Animation-ish Practice
This is my first go at Animation-ish this year. I have learnt how to do all levels of the program and learnt how to draw, colour and duplicate the frames. I quite like this little video so far as a practice :)

Avatar Assignment
This is my final avatar race of people. I am quite happy with the final result. I learned quite a lot in photoshop and found it quite fun- but quite fustrating also. Tecnhiques I learned in photoshop include; layering, masking, changing colours of things (hair, skin etc), clone and liquify/smudge. Knowing these tools had helped tremendoulsy through this task, especially the liquify/smudge and clone tools because I had made some mistakes throughout the task that could not be fixed unless those tools were used, and to add the features I wanted to the people so it was helpful.
The emotions that were expressed in the avatars were content (Miranda Kerr-left) and cheerful (Delta Goodrem-right). You can tell this is by their features. Miranda Kerr has solemn, content look on her face and with Delta Goodrem you can tell she is cheerful by her small smile.
Overall, I really liked learning about photoshop and what to do in it. I did have some very frustrating times with it and would have preferred to have one on one time with Mr Powell than waiting so long all the time as he went around the class helping, but I undersatnd that that could not have happened. I think that I am more of a visual learner and also hands on learner, but when learning new things like photoshop I am a bit slow and need a demonstration repeated a few times with me trying it also. I think if that had happened I might have not wasted as much time waiting for Mr Powell to come around or trying to do it myself and it turning out wrong, then undo-ing it all the time! So, the photoshop certainly did have some annoying, time consuming moments. I have to say though that I did try my hardest and am quite happy with myself actually completeing the task and submitting it on time, in the way that I am happy with the presentation of it.
However, there were a few things I would have changed if I could have done it all over again. Firstly, I would have prepared my time a little more. At the start of the term when I first got the assignment I had a picture in my head of what I wanted my avatars to look like. However, they are nothing like it now! This is because as I went, I did things to my race of people and decided I didn't like it so I undid it and tried different things until I was fairly happy with the result. This would have wasted a lot of time but in a way I am glad I did it, because out of it all I got to experience and try new things in photoshop to my avatar people and had options most of the time because I knew what it looked like. I would also have liked to change the way I learnt how to do things in the way I like to do it stated previously (demonstrated slowly a couple times and then I try it after with one on one help) however I know that probably could not happen.
However, overall I am happy with my avatar race of people. I am happy with the skills and techniques I have learnt along the way and when I had made mistakes and got annoyed with photoshop I look back now and say to myself that it was a part of the journey and all of that has ended with what I have now- a race of avatar people that I like and am happy with.
Personality of Avatar Race
The personality of my avatar race is gentle. They are a caring and peaceful race and only little will upset them. In most cases they will be showing the emotion of content, cheerful, peaceful and happy. They do not believe in war or weapons, but instead believe in peace and freedom ♥
My avatar race is called Tavi, and the planet in which the Tavi's live on, is called Tandora.

Avatar Assignment
This is the photo I am going to use for my avatar. It has two people, Miranda Kerr and Delta Goodrem, and they will be my two avatars in the one picture. My two emotions are there also; Miranda- content and Delta-cheerful. My ideas for the avatar race is to colour them purple like my practice avatar I did, enlarge the lips so they are bigger than what they are, but still making sure they look normal and maybe having some sort of pattern or freckles on their faces. I will also most likely colour their hair.

Avatar Assignment
This is a picture of Miranda Kerr I have been working on to warm myself up to actually making my Avatar. As I was doing it I thought I actually might be able to use it for my assignment but it turns out that the picture is too small to use for the assignment.

Avatar Assignment
I have been looking around at photos and features that I might want to include on my avatar race of people. I quite like these Puss In Boots eyes! I think I may include this in my avatar unless I find something else better. If I do use this I might change the bottom part of the eyes, where its green to be pink or something. I really like these eyes because they stand out quite a lot and does show emotion. I am not a 100% sure if I do want to use these eyes but at the moment I am looking at some eyes that do show emotion which gives me a head start on what my avatars personality might be like.

Emotion 3; Cheerful

Emotion 2; Stunned
All these pictures are showing the emotion of stunned. Each of these faces have common ways of expressing being stunned. It's obvious that in every photo they all have their mouths open and eyes wide open in shock. Image 2 also has the feature of having his hands up to his face. This is also a similar feature the emotion of stunned is shown. Due to the fact that their eyes are wide opened, their eyebrows can also raise slightly.

Emotion 1; Confused
(EMOTION BLOG)
Confused
These images are all showing the emotion of confused. Each one of these pictures have similarities in the way they present this emotion. The pictures have the similar facial expression/features; the mouth is either is slightly open or in a tight pulled up way. The eyebrows are risen, pulling the skin on the forehead up (especially in pictures 1 and 2). Also, the main feature in the way to show confusion is the use of the arm/hand. All of the pictures have their arm up with their hand on their head. This is almost like they are trying to "scratch" or slightly "bump" their head to get something out to say or think.

Photoshop- First Attempts
Techniques I used to create this image, includes Flipping/rotating, Resizing/ Combining pictures, Layering, Hue and saturation.
To create this image I firstly had to open up both the images of the Emu and the Tree frog. Then I had to combine the images by selecting only the part of the Emu I wanted (the head). I resized it to fit the frog and masked it. I changed the opacity so I could see the frog even though the emu was infront of it (opacity makes the image behind it visible- depending on the opacity % you put it on). I also made new layers so that I could brush out the beak of the emu, or the hair of the emu, to make a few different versions of the Tree frog/Emu specie. I was also able to change the colour by using the Hue and saturation technique. With this effect you are able to click on a part of the frog and colourise it on the hair, or wherever you wanted it. For example, I wanted the hair blue, so therefore I put the brush on the part of its leg where it is blue and colourised it on the hair so it matched and looked natural.
Voila! The picture is done.
